Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the tradition concerning Sarah’s death as described in Gen 23:1-2. The foundation for this is two pieces of information that give the biblical text a particularly important and interesting character. These are the age and place of death of Abraham’s wife. Both Christian and Jewish traditions present two traditions on this matter that complement each other. Although at first glance Genesis 23:1-2 does not
stand out from the accompanying verses of the inspired text, intriguing insights and interesting conclusions can be reached upon deeper analysis.
