Abstract

Poland and the Czech Republic have been the European Union Member States since 2004, and since then have been beneficiaries of EU funds, including the support for implementation of education policy. The aim of the article is to follow the national strategic documents of the above-mentioned countries in search of priorities relating to general education, planned for co-financing under the European Social Fund (ESF) in the national operational programs of the EU financial perspective 2014–2020. The comparison led to interesting conclusions – Poland and the Czech Republic differ under some aspects – the Czech model of educational policy in the indicated area has got a strong social context (inclusive education, equal access to education for children deriving from disadvantaged social groups, etc). Polish educational policy, on the other hand, emphasizes first of all developing the required students’ competences, skills and attitudes, as well as supporting talents. Moreover, the preliminary programming directions of the 2021–2027 financial perspective show that each of the above-mentioned countries follow a separate way.
