Abstract

The article is both theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part, the category of childhood, which is treated holistically in contemporary social sciences and pedagogy, was characterized. Childhood research is extensive, multi-threaded, but also connected with the socio-cultural and environmental context in which child grows up. The diagnosis of the situation of children with autism spectrum disorder and their childhood was aimed at getting to know and diagnose the forms and scope of social and pedagogical support offered to the surveyed families by the local environment. In the empirical part, the results of the research carried out with the use of the diagnostic survey method and the Berlin Social Support Scales (BSSS) were characterized. At the end, practical conclusions were presented.
