Abstract

In the present study undertaken to describe funeral songs found in the choir- books of singers residents of the municipality Sokoły and their linguistic analysis, which concerns semantics, intertextual references (motifs, symbols, characters and quotations, allusions, paraphrases), present stylistics. The research focusing on the language of funeral songs led to different conclusions. Inherent in funeral songs is the provenance of the Catholic Biblical symbolism and religious vocabulary, referring to saints or biblical figures, but also to concepts associated with the sphere of the sacred, such as the soul, the sky, the sinner, the lamb, etc.
