Łamanie praw dziecka w Pakistanie

Milcząca zgoda i nadzieja na zmiany

Paweł Antosiak

Abstract

The article aims to show the legal and social situation of children in Pakistan. In order to undertake this discussion, it is necessary to juxtapose the common definition of “child” with those found in the legislation of Pakistan. Recommendations of international institutions dealing with the protection of children’s rights will also be presented. The juxtaposition of the rights of the country’s youngest citizens with the basic norms of the international community, shows the many abuses that are still present with varying degrees of intensity in Pakistan. The problems raised: access to education, the scale of sexual abuse of children, marriages they are forced into, socially acceptable child labor and violence against them all point to a far-reaching discrepancy between law and reality. At the same time, research by independent institutions reveals the scale of abuse and the direction of change that must take place in Pakistan, primarily in the social consciousness of adult citizens.
